Win a Newgrounds poster! 3 to giveaway!

Posted by Jimp - November 17th, 2009

I just bought 2 sets of 3 Newgrounds posters from the store! The first set is to decorate my office, and the others will be going to 3 lucky NG users!

To keep things short, as part of the submission for my final year project at Uni I have to do a bunch of research for the game I'm making. Its a Flash RPG like Final Fantasy, something I dont think has been done properly in Flash before. Pretty!

Newgrounds seems like the perfect place to research my audience and what better to use as an excuse as "research" than a questionnaire? ;)

All you need to do for a chance of winning is comment this post with your answers to the following 10 questions about your opinions on RPGs. I will semi-randomly select 3 users to win the posters, simple as that! Its semi random as the quality of your responses will probably influence how likely you are to win, and spam wont be considered!

Here are the questions:

1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?
Classic middle earth
Steampunk
Sci-fi
Fantasy
Other (list?)

2. What kind of combat system do you like to use?
Turn based
Real Time

3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Yes
No
A bit.

4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
Yes
No
A bit.

5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?
Simple
Complex
A balance of both.

6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.
Sonny
Epic Battle Fantasy
Monsters Den
Another Small Favour

7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?
Definitely, I love the pretty!
It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in.
Graphics aren't important to me.

8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.

9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?

10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?

And thats it! Any further comments/ideas/thoughts are greatly appreciated! Once again you are more likely to win a poster if you put some thought into your answers!

I will choose and contact the winners on Friday and ill send the posters off as soon as I receive them. Ill try to give winners the poster they want but obviously thats impossible if everyone wants the same one...

zOMG!es as is it now called is finished and going through bidding on FGL right now, so expect to play that very soon! Its reminiscent of Penguinz but also has a lot of differences, the weapons are a lot more varied and the reload system adds a lot to the gameplay. Plus theres more blood. Yes! Heres an image.

Thanks, Im really grateful to anyone who fills out the questionnaire!

Heres a very very early screen!

Win a Newgrounds poster! 3 to giveaway!

Comments

My response to all of those is Steampunk.

Now seriously:

1. Steampunk
2. Real-Time
3. Yes, story is always important
4. Of course, the initial cutscene almost always defines my predisposition towards the rest of the game/level
5. A Balance, simple is boring, and too complex is a pain in the ass.
6. From that list, Sonny is the one I enjoyed the most.
7. Definitely. RPGs tend to be repetitive, so if you're looking at the same dull graphics over and over and over, it makes the overall experience way worse.
8. I dislike how RPGs are usually alike, there's barely any original fight/movement systems nowadays. That's why I like Fallout 3.
9. Diversity, it's not the same to have to fight a thousand zombies in the same two dungeons that fighting different enemies, with different strengths and weaknesses using different weapons and combat techniques. And ditching top-view, it's really annoying.

Oh, didn't see number 10:

10. Yes, all RPGs are based upon feudalism or medieval ages, quite honestly, that's boring, I also consider side-scrolling to be the best idea for an RPG.

O , HAI :D

1 > Steampunk and sci-fi depends on the rpg's story...

2 > Real time (and turn base too) but real time is much more fun.. even tough real time fights have bugs sometimes...

3 > A bit cause they don't really affect the gameplay... just... tells you what is happening =)

4 > Yes :D and if the cutscene is awesome and the game is total crpa.. i would probably play it just ot see the next cutscene XD

5 > The leveling system should be ballanced.. if you want the game to be successfull... so both complex and simple players will enjoy the game

6 > i didn't played many flash rpg-s but i played sonny and i liked it :P was preety amazing

7 > Yes i would play a flash rpg game with good graphics.. also the gameplay is important too... but if the graphics are MADE OF WIN... then there can be absolutely no gameplay and the game will still be awesome =)

8 > Neah... i love you ^__^

9 > The ROLE PLAYING part.... we can leave the "GAME" part behind.. that's not important =) lulz :3

10 > I haven't played many flash rpg's so i can't answer to this question =(( i could say IMPRESSIVE GRAPHICS but flash is preety limited to filters, particles and stuff like that :( sooooo i have no idea

also.. i love you ^__^

1. Fantasy
2. Turn based
3. Yes, definitely. A good story makes the game.
4. Yes, they help draw the player into the game world and help the player get a feel of the world around their characters.
5. A balance, so it isn't boringly simple, but isn't confusing as hell.
6. Sonny, for sure.
7. Definitely. It helps draw in the players, especially those with short attention spans.
8. Originality is definitely lacking in most RPGs today. Another thing that bothers me is when an RPG makes up for a lacking story with pretty graphics or by being open-ended. I also dislike it if you have to spend hours grinding to gain levels to beat a boss.
9. I think story and characters are the most important things in an RPG. I love to become immersed in a game with good characters and a good story. Nothing beats the feeling of being drawn into an epic world of fantasy. The characters should be three-dimensional beings, not just two-dimensional cliches with next to no personality or interactions.
10. Multiple story lines. Whether it is multiple story lines to choose from, or side stories, or even character based stories. One thing that always is amazing in an RPG is when each character has something to bring to the main storyline, an even gives you side quests to help you get a better understanding of them. That seems to be severly lacking from flash RPGs.

1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?
I would love to see a steampunk type rpg, but those are rare
I usually love fantasy rpgs

2. What kind of combat system do you like to use?
Real Time

3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
It's kind of important. there should be enough story to start and keep me playing, but not focus heavily on the story

4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
As long as they're not extremely long and boring. but yes, I do like cutscenes

5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?
It should be simple and easy to pick up

6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.
Adventures of Guy:RPG
Hero RPG
Linion RPG
Stick RPG

7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?
if it has good graphics, I'll be hooked instantly

8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.
When you play them for a long time, they start to get boring, and eventually you get bored of them.
That and having to grind to get stronger

9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?
leveling up and distributing stat points

10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?
I'd like to see a sidescrolling real time fighting rpg. I don't think I've ever seen one of those before. Also, a good (but not binding) storyline

1) What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?
Out of the choices given I love Fantasy and Steampunk. Fantasy is a genre that really lets the imagination run wild, so playing games like that you never know what anyone can come up with! Steampunk on the other hand, is rich art filled with detail based on the Victorian age. It is a rare find to play a nice Steampunk game, and since fantasy is somewhat involved in Steampunk I am going to have to go with that. :)

2) What kind of combat system do you like to use?
Turn based is more strategic where as Real time is more fast paced. It depends on the game, but if a turned base game is done correctly- it's pretty epic.

3) Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Yes, especially turn base! Story revolves around everything! Why are you playing this game? To save the princess of course! I enjoy games that have plot because it gives them an ending ( that hopefully doesn't drag on too long like so many other games out there )

4) Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
They don't improved the experience for me no, they just set the mood and pump me up for what is next to come. :)

5) Do you prefer a leveling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?
I prefer simple and easy because then you don't have to worry about memorizing hot keys and such. ( Simple is fun! )

6) What's your favorite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.
Sinjid Shadow of the warrior was the first flash RPG that I played and loved - kept me entertained for weeks!

7) Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?
It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in. I think that has to do with story line, good story line, can make me want to play a game even if the graphics are very poorly drawn!

8) Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.
Uhm, RPG games for me that are now expanding to the online universe with PVP is cool and all but not my favorite. The typical RPG for me is doing quests for NPC's and killing sweet monsters, but the one thing I miss the most is an actual goal. One main goal and that is your whole point of playing the game. RPG's nowadays have PVP and endless quests so you can have a social experience while killing internet dragons. But for me, I like having small bosses on the way to the big boss and once the big boss is done the game is over and you move on - maybe they then continue the game series. So for me I dislike the use of PvP.

9) What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?
Besides Storyline, the rest of the game needs to tie together. It needs to create its own world. If a game exists where everything is the same, the quests are similar , people look the same then they have done a poor job. For me the most important aspect would be is the world plausible.

10) What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?
What's missing is the hook. Most flash RPG games I will play for 5 - 10 min and get bored, because it's un-interesting. It is the same as every other game, it needs to really drive the point in the first 3 minutes of playing because otherwise people might think its a waste of time. My opinion is to throw everything at the viewer at once so we get a taste for whats coming.

Thanks for the questions, that was fun duder!

1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?

Sci-fi

2. What kind of combat system do you like to use?

Real Time

3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Yes
.

4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
Yes

5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?

A balance of both.

6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.

Another Small Favour

7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?

It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in.

8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.

Nope

9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?

The story

10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?

Length of play.

1) I prefer classic middle earth.

2) Real Time, to some extent. Turn-Based has always confused/annoyed/angered me.

3) YES, YES, YES! You can't really have a good RPG without a good story. It just doesn't happen. A Role-Playing-Game can't be played unless you know what role you are playing! :D

4) YES, YES, YES!

5) If the leveling system is too complex, it is frustrating. If it is too simple, I get bored with the game. You need to have a balance of both, like in Modern Warfare 2. It isn't an RPG, but it has an easy-to-understand leveling system, but it is also very deep.

6) Another Small Favor, it has all of the things listed above that make a good RPG game.

7) Obviously the graphics play a large role in the enjoyment of a game. Imagine if Alien Hominid had sucky (-er?) graphics.

8) I hate having to scroll through hundreds and hundreds of lines of text.

9) The most important aspect of an RPG game is the story.

10) Flash RPGs don't usually have a good story, or a good combat system.

I don't want a poster, but I'd still be happy to give my opinion on RPGs.

1. Fantasy is typical of RPGs, and is hard to go wrong with, but SciFi is even better if the setting and combat system are balanced properly (the simplest example is not to put people running around with knives on the same level as robots with laser eyes)

2. Turn Based, mostly because real-time systems are complicated and hard to get used to.

3. Yes. Even when I know that whoever made the game didn't make it to tell a story, it is better to know that they at least TRIED and put some thought into the plotline.

4. Yes, but drawn-out cutscenes, too many, or just plain bad timing is worse than no cutscenes at all.

5. Simple is better. For an RPG to work, it's best to have simple, easy to understand controls that any player can use but with a little bit of an added touch that makes that RPG unique. Something usually unnecessary but very helpful.
6. MARDEK is my favorite Flash RPG series of all time. It has the perfect balance of a simple battle system, but with action command things that can be set to give yourself an edge in combat; totally unnecessary, but helpful and it gives the player something to do other than click rapidly and watch their characters fight.

7. Graphics definitely add to the experience, and draw me in, but they don't really improve how much I enjoy the game at all.

8. Long-drawn RPGs with no variation really annoy me. Especially when there is little story to keep me wanting to go along. Besides that, the worst part of most RPGs is that they don't draw the player into the action, but put them as a controller outside of the battle; but I suppose that's exactly what they're doing anyway.

9. The characters are the most important aspect of an RPG because, unless you're put in direct control (which is rare in story-driven RPGs), you have to be interested enough in that character to keep on playing the game. It is also the customizability of the player's characters that make them feel involved in the game, and the fact that those characters are involved in the story.

10. I'd like to see a storyline that isn't linear, but still interesting, and a fully customizable party. The former is probably out of reach, but the latter would be interesting; to actually have control over the characters beyond just what they wear (Monster's Den attempts this, but a few portraits on a screen don't appeal to me as much as full character animations and abilities that you can actually develop)

1) Sci-Fi - always been the most fun for me
2) Turn based - tried and true, works best especially because you have a moment to think
3) yes - without a story, the game is just meaningless and there would be no reason to be playing it
4) yes - cutscenes allow for more story elements to be introduced into the game and give it a much stronger atmosphere
5) balanced - if it's too simple, then it gets boring and repetitive whereas if it's too complex, it gets frustrating and annoying
6) I always loved Mardek RPG and when the second chapter came out I was so happy
7) it adds to the gamplay, but gameplay is what draws me in - the graphics shouldn't be terrible, but they dont need to absolutely stun me; i love to play old school SNES rpgs because the games are brilliant even if the graphics are nothing compared to the graphics of new games
8) dislikes - the fact that too many rpgs play out the same fantasy cliches: wizards, elves, warriors; there's just too much similarity between rpgs you see, originality is key or else there's no reason to play the game
9) the story - if there isn't a good story to back up a game, then it becomes just a generic rpg and it becomes lost in the sea of endless other generic rpgs
10) i don't know if it's already been done, but maybe something like a real-time action rpg like terranigma (i suggest checking that game out if you've never heard of it)

1.Steampunk
2.Real Time
3.Story is the main reason I play rpg games, so of course.
4.My younger brother whines when I watch the cutscenes to games because he doesn't understand that they make the game so much better.
5.A balance of both because totally complex would annoy me and simple would make it too easy to beat
6.I like another small favor
7.Pretty draws me in like a moth to a lamp!
8.I dislike how they're all medieval when you look for them on the internet
9.Characters need to look different. I hate how the characters look exactly the same except for the colors
10.i don't know, for i haven't played very many... it'd be nice if it had medals

1-Fantasy
2-Turn based
3-Yes
4-A bit.
5-simple
6-Epic Battle Fantasy
7-It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in.
8-repetitive enemies
9-be funny and have good animations
10-battles in which you have to push buttons in a certain order quickly for do very powerfull atacks

1: fantasy - silly
2: a mix of both, depends on my mood. so long as they're both structured and
easy to understand
3: somewhat
4: yes
5: a balance of both
6: sonny
7: definitely, I love the pretty
8: i don't like having a huge party and having to manage every single one of them.
small and simple is my preference.
9: gameplay and story
10: i'd prefer more slinkies.

1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?

Fantasy

3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Yes
No
A bit.

4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?

Yes completely

5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?

A balance of both. gives me somethings to aim for.

6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.

Another Small Favour

7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?

It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in. I will ONLY play if it has good game play

8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.

I dont like it if it is only leveling then it turns into a massive grindfest e.g. runescape, wow

9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?

GAME PLAY

10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?

non linear gameplay thou that would be hard

steampunk
turnbased
yes
yes
a balance
EBF
Graphics aren't important to me, but i hate rpgs like pokemon
No
Upgrading weapons/skills
Nah.

1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?
I like to see a mixture of modern or Sci-Fi, and fantasy settings.

2. What kind of combat system do you like to use?
I prefer real time combat to turn based.

3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Yes. Very Important. It's hard to play an RPG when I can't identify with the protagonist.

4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
Yes. If they aren't to long, that is.

5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?
I like VERY complex leveling systems. I like being made to put a lot of thought into how my character develops. I don't like just pouring points into a few different abilities.

6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.
Sonny is my favorite.

7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?
It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in.

8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.
Some of them are too slow paced; the cutscenes too long, the enemies take too long to attack.

9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?
The combat. If a game can't make killing things fun, it isn't worth playing.

10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?
I would like to see a game with a deeper upgrade system.

fuck i commented on this earlier but i think NG glitched and stopped my comment while i was at hockey

1: fantasy - silly
2: a mix of both, depending on my modd
3: yes, definitely.
4: yes
5: a balance of both
6: sonny
7: Definitely, I love the pretty!
8: i hate it when you have a big party and have to manage every single one of them. one or two people is enough.
9: the gameplay. story comes a close second.
10: needs more slinkies.

1. Other - Modern
2. N/A (There's nothing fun about rpg battle systems).
3. I can't believe this is a question...all an RPG has going for it is it's story.
4. Cut-scenes should only be used if there is no other way to convey to the player what you want.
5. N/A (There's nothing fun about grinding).
6. They all suck.
7. Graphics aren't important to me.
8. Grinding. Grinding. Grinding. Knowing that it doesnt matter what skills you may have, all you really need to do in an rpg is give it your time.
9. Adventure and interesting NPC's are the redeeming features of a good RPG.
10. What's missing is; Adventure, interesting NPC's and originality in general.

Also youre a complete retard for thinking that making a game like Final Fantasy is in anyway original. Final Fantasy is the definition of unoriginality.
Go play Earthbound and Sweet Home to see what some good RPG's look like.

1) Classic Middle Earth. Let's you get back to the basics, everything is simple and clear-cut with lots of areas to improvise. Middle Earth could also adapt the Steampunk idea into it, setting the character in a time of expansion and industrial revolution, building suspense and anticipation for new technology and experiences in the "new world" which would balance off the crutches of axes and swords that Middle Earth themes rely on.
-Sci-fi is way too complicated. All that super-advanced technology can get a little overbearing and become a hassle ot figure out what kind of equipment is best. Like photon cannons, Tesla coils, Turrets, etc.
-Fantasy isn't a good idea as well since much of the RPGs we have today are based on it. Final Fantasy, for example. The things you see in those games are also very unbelievable and exaggerated, which tend to get annoying after a while. Energy blasts, or any form of chakra, chi, or visible power is just way too much.
-Steampunk is a fresh idea, but when I think of RPG and Steampunk, I picture lots of destroyed ruins for backgrounds, which is something I would stay away from. A few ruins for backgrounds and settings are good, but if the entire story is based on a destroyed world and steampunk based survivors or equipment, liek sci-fi, it just gets too complicated.

2) Real-Time DEFINITELY. Turn based gets very tedious very quickly. waiting for your character to do his flashy moves, then your enemy do his, takes up a lot of time and induce boredom. Especially in the case of repetitive attacks. We've already seen the move. Can you just get it over with already? Of course we don't want another dodge n slash game like the legend of zelda. Maybe a different button so you can strafe, leap to the side, back, or up, or attack differently. Using the same button to hit combos like marth in super smash bros brawl gets old. You could put different buttons to attack and an energy meter so it forces them to experiment with different attacks and combos. We like to see a character that can move nimbly and smoothly like in GhostFight-BOS-Part1 <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/430990">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /430990</a>

3) The story is the glue that holds the RPG together. Without it, you would just be another mindless warrior fighting random soldiers for no apparent reason. Story adds reputation, excitement, and gives the player a reason to come back. For example; if you had a story, you could advance through the ranks, gain respect from the npcs, and be given missions from masters. Through the plot, you could add twists which would draw the player in even more, like a former trainer being assassinated, just an example. You have to see it from the player's view. The player would see it from the character's view, so just add what the character would want to achieve.

4) Cutscenes are a controversial topic. On one hand, they provide entertainment and can increase the 'epicness' of the game and increase player willingness to finish the game. On the other hand, if cutscenes are placed in the wrong places, they can get very, VERY annoying. Watching a cutscene every time you kill a boss like in Legend of Zelda: Windwaker got really repetitive. You just deliver the final blow, then the boss either collapses and dies, or collapses, then turns into another form. Another reason is that the cutscenes remind you that the game you're playing isn't as good as the cutscenes. The limbs don't move like that, you can't run up a wall and do a somersault onto a monster's back. You can only run around him and slash him over and over. I don't want to discourage you from using a cutscene though, but I think the only good time for a cutscene is the intro and conclusion. And the conclusion better be epic.

5) A levelling system is a good concept for all games. No one wants to stay at the same power or depend solely on their equipment for power. They want to see their character progress throughout the game, becoming stronger, faster, smarter. An Attribute distribution system is always good. 5 pts per level is what the general public is used to. Just don't go overboard and make too many attributes. Having too many like dexterity, strength, intelligence, stealth, agility, etc. are too much and too complicated. Then again don't just put the usual strength, intelligence, and agility. four attributes are good. 5 is pushing it.

6) All those on the list are good in their own way, but have their own little flaws. I think i'd say id rather have sonny mixed with another small favour, with some sort of real time fighting system. Sonny has its original idea of a zombie character as a protagonist, another small favour being a point n click adventure, mixed with a fighting system to balance off the point n click theme.

7) most games on the front page now have great quality. You can use that as a basis. the thing you need to focus on is the style of art you use. Everyone has their own style of drawing, but some are more appealing. Special effects are also good. I fancy glowing for something reason. (Again) Like in GhostFight-BOS-Part1 <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/430990">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /430990</a> is really good.

8) Some RPGs plan for you to redo a level over and over to train and get stronger so you can pass the next level like in Dragon Boy <a href="http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/516950">http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view /516950</a> . BAD IDEA! Players don't want to do the same thing over and over again just to progress a small amount then repeat the same process over and over again. Other than that, everything else was explained in the previous questions. Also, the idea of random battles that have become the symbol of pokemon, in the same way, gets really old really fast. Oh, also no muscular chicks please. lol, its just not aesthetically pleasing.

9) I think a tradition that should be upheld and has been present in many RPGs and many more RPGs to come is the level system. With tons of variations, I hope you can find the right one with the right balance.

10) Nothing comes to mind really. A good idea would be a system in which you could make your weapons or equipment from things collected from different areas of the world or randomly acquired from battles with monsters. Don't make the recipes too complicated though.

I hope this helps. I had fun filling out the questionnaire. if you have any more questions or want to run some ideas by me, feel free to pm me.

1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?
Well a Classic middle earth style mixed with fantasy would be nice. Although it may seem unoriginal, if u make Also perhaps Blood'n'Gore Horror, Gangster, Post-Apocalyptic,

2. What kind of combat system do you like to use?
Turn based PROS
- Allows u to pause and think
- Easier to choose how to attack, defend, etc
CONS
- Slower, less interesting/adrenaline pumping as real-time

Real Time PROS
- Fast and action-packed
CONS
- No time to pause and think
- Sometimes repetitive

I would choose turn-based

3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Yes of course. If u just wanted a game where you level up and kill stuff, you could do a fighting game. A storyline brings the game to life and allows players to connect at a deeeper level, meaning a more enjoyable game play

4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
Yes, but only if theyre skippable. i enjoy short animations in between (it means i get to watch and play!) but hate having to watch them for ages before playing anything

5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?

A balance of both. A simple interface but with complex unique results. Say if u had the ability to simply choose to level up a couple of attributes and if u want dedicate certain points within that attribute (eg attribute is agility, and if u want u can make speed better than swiftness or vice-versa)

6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.
Sonny, the graphics are decent, storyline is decent, everything was decent. Everything seemed to fit well with the theme and it all came together nicely

7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?

It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in. Its like if u see a game which is in really good packaging with excellent graphics and you buy it to find that the gameplay is boring. Eye candy is nice but the gameplay has to be just as good. Then again dont go making an RPG with crappy graphics hahaha

8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.
Waiting through cutscenes
Stupid storylines
Un-Originality
Repetition (enemies, scenery, etc)
Not enough options (eg no character select, etc)

9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?
Originality and the ability to make your own options/choices. I wnat a game where i can make any number of choices so that if i want to play it again i would be able to take a completely different path and have a unique experience every time. Originality is key also because i dont want to play a game which has already been done. I want something new, it may sound hard but even if u do need to copy some ideas put your own little twist into it. I dont want repitivity, i want different enemies with different attributes, different items with different Pros and Cons. I want different EVERYTHING

10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?

A couple things actually... some might be outta reach but Here we go:
- MISSIONS/STORYLINE
A good RPG has a main storyline. Now what would be interesting is if this storyline required you to do a string of tasks, and dependent on how you perform these tasks you will encounter other different tasks or youll have a different ending (eg you are required to stop soldiers from invading. You could either try persuading them or killing them. Depending on what you do you could have the player either win or be sent to jail for slaughter. Or you could have an ending where thye either go to Hell or Heaven). A storyline which is flexible enough to be able to change dependent on your tasks but still be realistic is good. Also id like to see smaller side-objectives which you could complete to gain special medals, weapon, armour, etc.
-FULL CUSTOMIZATION
id love to see a game where you can choose every detail of how your character is. Rather than just changing their clothes id like to see one where you can change their facial/body features, their stance and walk, their attack, and even what theyre clothes look like (eg ability to choose colour, length, size, type, etc). Id also like to see you be able to create your own armour, items, potions, weapon abilities, etc. That might only be a special unlockable feature when you finish the game or it can be when you find certain items/ collections of items.
- MORE SKILLS
id like to see more options when choosing skills. Things like walking speed, attacking speed, jump, healing, destruction magic, conjuration magic, etc. More skills means more possibilites.

HOPE THIS HELPED, some of it is obviously a bit long but i think it would be helpful ;)

PS GOOD LUCK
