Wow my first news post :D I thought I may as well make one of these about what im working on at the moment.

I am making a sidescrolling shooter with vengeance, in which you play as a penguin and shoot the shit out of things, basically!

Progress is coming along pretty well, we have about 5 levels, 11 enemies (including 2 bosses) done, and its looking sweet!

The game is arena based, much like staggy, in which you play for 1 minute rounds, killing as much as you can and earning cash in the process, with which you can buy new weapons and upgrades! The engine is so fun to play with and I am really pumped for the game!

Vengeance posted a gameplay video on you tube if you wanna see the game in action :P

Also, heres some taster art to sink your teeth into :P

Looks smooth. Is it my imagination or does that video show an awesome recoil game mechanic? I don't know the controls but from the looks of things it seemed the penguin kept getting knocked back or jumping higher (when in the air) when it fired the gun. If that's the case: Classy. If that's not....still, game looks very shiny.

Yup! There is a scripted recoil, which is pretty fun to play around with. For instance, if you jump in the air and shoot down with the M16, you will float downwards rather than fall. If you do the same with a shotgun and let off 3 or 4 shots downwards you go flying into the air!

Saw your new movie "Join the Army". I'm so pleased how well it turned out. Well done.

It's cool to read that your doing interactive media in Bournemouth. Must be cool. it's weird becasue i might do the same course next year. Good to see someone on the interwebs who is producing excellent work from the course.

Looks good, only thing that you could add is the abilty to ride the snowmobiles. Apart from that looks great :)

I dunno man, I was pleased with the final product of Join The Army, but at the moment Im finding animating for games a lot more rewarding. I liked the characters in JTA though, maybe I could make a game one day!
