Sounds fun.
1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?
Fantasy
I prefer fantasy over most other RPG styles when it comes to RP simply because it's what I've been used to while growing up. It just seems to me that most fantasy RPG's involve more character devlopment and are moreso focused on a distinct storyline, providing a more better gaming experience.
2. What kind of combat system do you like to use?
Turn based
Once again, I prefer turn based combating systems simply because that's what I'm used to. Although real time combating systems can be fun, I find that for the most part they're poorly executed. An old fashioned turn based combating system, however, can never go wrong. :)
3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Yes
The entire reason I, personally, play an RPG is to get into the storyline. To me, character development and proper storylines are the key elements required to create an effective RPG game.
4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
Yes
As long as the cutscenes are necessary for the development of the RPG, I love to see them in the games I play. To me, cutscenes can, and usually do, add more to the storyline, or can be used to better execute character development.
5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?
Simple
Personally, when I play my RPG games I do it for the sheer storyline/game itself. I don't like to spend a lot of time deciding which way I should level my character and which stat needs to be focused on moreso. I just like to get stronger while playing the game. Perhaps if a type of class could be chosen at the beginning of the game it'd be more enjoyable, but overall I prefer a simplistic leveling system.
6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.
Sonny
Sonny is by far my most favorite Flash RPG ever created on either Newgrounds or the entire world wide web. It has a well executed storyline, and the potential for a decent character development. The levelling system is a bit dragged out but not complicated nonetheless, and the turn based combating system is enjoyable.
7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?
It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in.
While playing my RPG's, I usually look past the pretty graphics and focus moreso on the time spent on creating the characters and storyline (as I've mentioned many times before.) Although it is nice to see well executed graphics, it's not entirely necessary. I'll sit down and play FF1 before I'd play WoW any day.
8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.
Real Time battling systems, for the sheer fact that, for the most part, I've yet to see anyone who could decently execute a proper real time system that would make the game enjoyable.
No storylines/character development. I find RPG's with none of the aforementioned are just boring, and are mainly used to waste someones time. When I do find the time to play a game, I'd like something that's going to peak my interest both physically and mentally.
9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?
10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?
Not in particular. With the release of Sonny I was quite satisfied. Come to think of it, though, more character development never hurts!
ZergDragoon
1. What kind of styling do you like to see in an RPG game?
I prefer classic fantasy stylizing, but steampunk would add a nice twist to it as well.
2. What kind of combat system do you like to use?
I like real time more as it offers more maneuverability and personalization to the fighting style of most players.
3. Is the story important to you when playing an RPG?
Story is VERY important, but it needs a good mixture of game play and story to keep me coming back for more.
4. Do well-presented Cutscenes improve the experience for you?
Yes.
5. Do you prefer a levelling system to be simple and easy to use or deep and complex?
A balance of both, for example you can choose to be a mage right, and you can decide what skills you want (fireball, lightning, etc) but what if you want some physical abilities.... I have yet to see a flash game that offers a type of multi-classing system, and I guess that is what would make it memorable.
6. What's your favourite Flash RPG series? Choose from the list or add your own.
Epic Battle Fantasy.
7. Are you more likely to play an RPG Flash game if it has good graphics?
It adds to the experience but game play is what pulls me in, but I think that I gave somewhat of an explanation in question 3.
8. Is there anything you dislike about RPG games in general? Please list.
They keep the same classes, and races... I want something to think outside the box. MAybe instead of a Paladin class, make a Templar class... they have holy might but they mostly tank... or something like that. Just get creative, is all I'm saying....
9. What do you consider to be the most important aspect of an RPG game?
Most important aspect? Most likely game play, without it the game falls flat on its face, it can have the greatest characters and plot of all time, but if it's just a carbon copy of every other game out there, I end up making excuses to not play it.
10. What's missing from Flash RPG's? Is there anything you really want in a free flash RPG that you've never seen before?
I answered my biggest peeve in question 8, if there are any other problems I guess it'd just be story... try and have a fabricated reason behind every happening. Don't just pull a, "oh no, danger, chosen one, help!" Story line, I guess is what I'm saying.... Be unique....
